Q & A
Is virtual puppy training actually effective?
Yes!
Puppies learn best in their real environment where the behaviors are actually happening. That means we can address crate issues in the crate, biting in the living room, and leash skills on your actual walks, not in a controlled training room.
What do I need for virtual sessions?
Just a smartphone, tablet, or laptop with a camera and a stable internet connection.
We typically use Zoom or Face Time for coaching sessions.
For certain exercises (like leash work or socialization outings), a simple setup like a phone with a chest mount or small tripod can be helpful, but not required to get started.
Do you work with clients outside of San Diego?
Yes.
The Puppy Foundations Program is fully virtual, which means I work with puppy owners across the U.S. and internationally.
Puppy development follows the same behavioral principles no matter where you live, the only difference is how we apply them to your daily environment.
How fast will I see changes in my puppy?
Most owners notice small but meaningful shifts within the first session or two. Mainly clarity, structure, and confidence in what to do next.
Bigger behavioral changes (like reduced biting, better settling, or improved crate comfort) depend on your consistency, your puppy’s age, and how long the behavior has been practiced.
The goal isn’t quick fixes, but it’s building patterns that actually last!
Can you coordinate with my vet or other professionals?
Yes.
If needed, I’m happy to collaborate with veterinarians, veterinary behaviorists, or other trainers involved in your puppy’s care to ensure we’re all aligned.
This is especially helpful for medical rule-outs or more complex behavior cases.
Do you work with both puppies and older dogs?
This program is specifically designed for puppies and early adolescent development.
That includes:
-
Socialization
-
Potty training
-
Crate training
-
Biting and nipping
-
Leash foundations
-
Early behavior prevention
For adult dogs with established behavior concerns, I offer separate behavior-focused programs.
Do you guarantee results?
No ethical trainer can guarantee behavior outcomes.
Your puppy is an individual learning in a real environment with real variables.
What I can guarantee is:
-
A clear, science-based plan
-
Ongoing professional guidance
-
Support adjusting the plan as your puppy develops
-
And access to evidence-based training methods rooted in behavior science
Can multiple family members join sessions?
Yes, and I strongly encourage it!
Puppy training works best when everyone is on the same page. If multiple people are involved in feeding, walking, crate training, or play, having everyone present ensures consistency and better results.
